Israel's Decision To Build 4,000 Homes in Judea-Samaria in Area C

Nadene Goldfoot

The Oslo Agreement, also knows as the Oslo Accords, is an agreement signed between the State of Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) on September 13, 1993, meant to effectively bring the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to its end by means of territorial concessions with a division of Judea and Samaria between Palestinians and Israelis.

Back in the days of the Oslo Accords, Judea and Samaria, Israel's original land where the Bible was centered, has been divided in areas A,B, and C.  This was an administrative decision and not a geographic division.  It was to be a temporary division and could have made an incremental transfer of authority to the Palestinians easy.  It did not address needs of anyone over a long term of population growth.  It's been in play for over 20 years, now.

Area A is for the Palestinian Arabs.
Area B is for both the Palestinian Arabs and the Israelis.
Area C is for the Israelis.

Area C includes about 60% of Judea-Samaria.  Judea is the southern portion and Samaria is the northern, the site of the original Israel after King Solomon had died and Israel divided into Israel and Judea with the line of King David and Solomon continuing to reign in Judea.

We have it on excellent authority by international lawyer Professor Kontorovich and others that Israel did legally have rights to the land because they were attacked by Egypt, Iraq, Syria,Jordan  and Lebanon's full armies in June 1967 and Israel won against their onslaught in a miraculous 6 blistering days!

Throughout area C are 166 little pockets of Areas A and B.

Accesses and Restrictions in Judea-Samaria
As I see it, the land is Israel's.  If the Palestinians were true to the UN's ideals, they would have made peace with the Jews in 1948 and have had many opportunities since then with the Khartoum 3 NOs refusal each time.  The good will of Israel has been very patient in waiting for the dreamer's idea of a next door neighbor, Palestine, living in peace with them.

Israel had been stabbed in the back by Obama as he was leaving his 8th year of office as USAs president with the Resolution 2334 in the UN and their abstention  to this terrible statement.  Possibly because of this, the Israeli government has finally voted, after 50 years this June 5th, to build 4,000 homes in their rightful holdings of Area C.  It was that, and possibly the warning from Trump not to build because then he wouldn't be able to bring about a peaceful settlement with the Palestinians that threw the Knesset the pass to build.

Oslo Peace Accord Signers- 1993
Yitzhak Rabin, Bill Clinton, Yasser Arafat who spoke for the Palestinians.
Supposedly, his father was Palestinian though he was raised in Egypt.
Israel has been through this argument over and over again.  Their building has nothing to do with Palestinians wishing to live in peace with the Jews.  They have had this land promised to them by others for so long-and they haven't stopped their warring yet.  In fact, they've  only divided up as cells on their way to a body part-now becoming from the PLO and Fatah to another cell of Hamas.  The responsibility of thwarting the creation of a Palestine must be carried on their own shoulders, and not blaming Israel.   All the delays have just given Jews the understanding that peace will never come.

At least 50,000 Jews lived in Area C for starters with latest population at 325,500.  .
180,000 Arabs live in Area C, meant for only Jews.  Many have been building illegally.  They are living on "state" lands, and "firing zones."

I might add that Israel has no other choice of land to live on other than Israel or Judea and Samaria's area C and part of Area B.  The Palestinian Arabs are free to move and live in the 22 Arab states surrounding Israel that Israel is not allowed to live in.  Judea-Samaria's history is with that of the Jewish people.  It has already come into their hands through the June 1967 War of an attack by 5 full armies.  The Arab armies had a choice; they could back off.  Israel had no choice but to win or die.

As  either Golda  or Netanyahu explained,

“If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more ‎violence. If the Jews put ‎down their weapons ‎today, there would be no ‎more Israel'‎”

Israel is divided between those on the left and those on the right, same as the USA is.  Remarkably, those on the right in both countries are the more religious of the two.  Netanyahu is of the right, just as Trump is in the USA.
Earlier at Camp David;  Begin, Carter and Sadat
in 12 secret days hammering a peace deal about Palestinian territories out
September 17, 1978 without Palestinian participation.
"The Camp David Accords were the result of 14 months of diplomatic efforts by Egypt, Israel, and the United States that began after Jimmy Carter became President"

All these American Presidents who think they can solve such a problem and all the time it is the Palestinian Arabs in the first place who must decide to change their people's hatred that they have created and now make peace.  Others keep on failing.
I might add that Obama's administration disregarded Netanyahu's biggest fear of the Iran deal and flew to the USA begging them all to be sure to make a deal that would defend Israel's rights of existence, for Iran has let the world know of their intentions towards the Jewish nation.  Even Trump has declared it's the worst deal possible, this coming from a top notch deal maker who wrote the book on it.  Now we have Israel's left moaning and groaning over building in their own space.

I don't think anyone really understood what A, B and C looked like and the waste of space going on for all these years.  Israel has had the right to build when even the Oslo Accords recognized their rights.  It's today's generation of the UN who is not recognizing that right, led by begruntled Arabs wielding Arab oil power over thirsty nations who all live by "Might over Right."
